RRB NTPC Complete Guide
RRB NTPC Overview
The Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB NTPC) examination is one of the largest recruitment drives in India, conducted by the 21 Railway Recruitment Boards under the Indian Railways. Exam Pattern
RRB NTPC has multi-stage selection. CBT 1 is a 90-minute exam with 100 questions (40 GA + 30 Mathematics + 30 General Intelligence and Reasoning) for shortlisting. CBT 2 is a 90-minute exam with 120 questions and varies by post. Some posts also include a Typing Skill Test, Aptitude Test, and Document Verification. Both CBTs have –1/3 negative marking.
Subjects Covered
- Mathematics — number system, percentage, ratio, profit and loss, time and work, mensuration
- General Intelligence and Reasoning — analogies, syllogism, Venn diagrams, coding, statement-conclusion
- General Awareness — Current Affairs, History, Geography, Polity, Economy, General Science, Indian Railways
Preparation Strategy
For Mathematics, build basics from RS Aggarwal and practice speed maths. For Reasoning, daily 50-question practice from books like Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal works well. For General Awareness, study Lucent's GK and a monthly current affairs magazine — Railway-related GK is heavily asked. Solve previous 5 years' RRB NTPC papers and take 3 full-length mocks per week in the last month.
