RRB Group D Overview
The Railway Recruitment Board Group D examination is one of the largest entry-level government recruitment drives in India, conducted by the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) under the Indian Railways. It fills posts in Level 1 of the 7th Pay Commission such as Track Maintainer Grade IV, Helper / Assistant in various Railway departments, Pointsman, Hospital Assistant, and other operational roles essential for the day-to-day functioning of Indian Railways.
Exam Pattern
RRB Group D has three stages. The Computer Based Test (CBT) is a 90-minute exam with 100 questions covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness on Current Affairs. Each correct answer carries +1, with –1/3 negative marking. After CBT, shortlisted candidates undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) with running, weight-lifting, and other fitness benchmarks, followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Preparation Strategy
For Mathematics, build basics with RS Aggarwal and emphasize speed and accuracy. For Reasoning, regular practice of puzzles and series questions builds aptitude. For General Science, NCERT Class 8–10 textbooks cover most concepts; revise diagrams and basic experiments. For Current Affairs, follow daily newspaper headlines and use a monthly digest. Take at least 25 full-length mocks before the exam to build stamina and timing.
